Subject: Webb Board enhancement: Support for larger avatars
Hey folks,

I've decided to relax the image-size constraints that I placed on avatars, many years ago when people using dial-up internet were not uncommon. But nowadays, I figured it'd be nice to have them be large enough, that if you wish to share your true portrait, people can see it well enough that they can actually recognize you in real life.

And so... as of today, you can now upload images as big as 240x240 pixels. Avatars will still appear as 60x60 pixels, until they are clicked. Then they'll be enlarged so you can see the "Full Grown" picture. This was done so existing page layouts are not disrupted. Existing 60px avatars are going to look pixelated when blown up, so to fix that, simply upload a new, larger avatar through your Member Profile.

Webb and I have new avatars already, and we're the guinea pigs on this new feature, so click on one of our avatars to try it out.

Cheers,
Mike

This both amuses and confuses. Very well then. Thank you, and carry on "Bein' Yorce Elves", fellers.

Oh, by the way folks, if you experience any problems with REALLY BIG AVATARS appearing EVERYWHERE, be sure to clear your browser cache and reload the page. At least one person mentioned that to me, but I believe it was a transient issue.

As of this evening, a callout box will display with your basic details.

Note that taglines are included in the callout, but only if you have one. You can add one on your User Profile, if you like.

Enjoy!

A welcome change, especially with as much weight as I've gained in recent years. Ate 5 boxes of thin mints, still not feeling thin.

Yes, clearly that's a product with truth-in-advertising issues!

I have to ask about your avatar's tagline. My neighbors have dogs that bark their heads off every time I go outside. I would love to know your secret for launching them!
