On the way to work this morning, I heard the radio DJ mention that today is National Thrift Shop Day.

I don't know of any plate lunch joints around here, but there are a few thrift shops and flea markets that I check out regularly.

I picked up on a Kalamazoo Model 2 amp at one of the thrift shops a few years ago. Fortunately, it had a signal cord in back, so I was able to turn it on, plug in the cord, and touch the tip of the cord to see if I could get a squawk out of it. It did, but very weakly. I demonstrated it to one of the workers there, and he cut the price from the marked $50 down to $25. Fresh filter caps and tubes made it like new again.

Anybody else have some good thrift shop find you'd like to tell us about?
